HOW TO GET POSITIONED FOR DIFFERENT TYPES OF SQUAT
DO YOU KNOW HOW TO GET POSITIONED FOR DIFFERENT TYPES OF SQUATS?
There are stances to get positioned for different squats: narrow, regular, and wide. Knowing how to do them ensures you workout safely and promotes better results.
Many people injure their knees while trying to perform squats because they do not use the proper form. Not knowing that your knee should follow the pattern of where your feet is pointing, for example, forces you to use your body in an unnatural way and can harm your muscles and joints.
Do not worry, however, because learning how to do different types of squats safely is not very hard! Watch three simple types of squats that will help you with your form and can be applied to almost every other squat variation!
1.NARROW STANCE
Place your feet shoulder width apart and point them straight forward. You can use a bench, box, or a higher surface to perform this exercise. If you are trying to improve your squat form or if you can't do a regular air squat, this is the perfect exercise for you!
2.REGULAR STANCE (AIR SQUATS)
Place your feet shoulder width apart and angle your feet slightly out. Make sure your knee follows the direction of where your feet are pointing during the movement. This positioning applies to DB squats and barbell squats as well. If you want to improve your form and go up in weight in a safe manner, practice this form and you will see results!
3.SUMO SQUATS
Place your feet wide and angle your feet out. Make sure your knee follows the direction of where your feet are pointing during the movement and open your legs wide (try to feel your inner thighs). This is a great exercise for inner thighs and glutes. If you want to go up in weight, you can add a barbell or use the smith machine at the gym!
Now that YOU KNOW how different types of squats require different stances, do not waste your time! Practice each of these squat variations, and you can even make up your own variation depending on the equipment you have available at your gym or home!
Hope these tips are helpful for you to start seeing more results in your workouts! Keep in mind that learning takes practice and even room to make mistakes in the process. However, the results will be life changing and worth the hard work!
